The X Bar X Boys on Whirlpool River

The Manley brothers run the X Bar X Ranch, and when a mail plane makes a forced landing on their land, their quiet frontier life crackles to life. Teddy and Roy befriend the daring pilot Hank Dempsey, who whisk them to Centralia on business for their father. There they meet Larry Cobb, a rough but good-natured rider whose health has failed him - he needs country air and a place to recover. The boys bring him home to the X Bar X, where new complications await: an Italian rancher neighbor has been swindled by crooked hands who want his land, and the brothers must help expose the scheme. When a violent storm claims Hank's plane near Copperhead Gulch - a place thick with poisonous snakes - the three friends mount a desperate rescue mission. Written in 1926, this is frontier adventure at its most spirited: honest work, dangerous landscapes, and the unshakeable bond between boys who face the wild together.
