The Wizard of Light

The Wizard of Light is a science fiction novel by David Ely, written in the early 1960s. It follows Dr. Cyrus E. Browl, an eccentric inventor known as the 'Wizard of Light,' who creates uncanny duplicates of famous paintings using a peculiar easel. The story humorously critiques the art world's obsession with authenticity and the impact of technology on artistic value, culminating in a whimsical exploration of creativity and societal pretensions. Ely's satirical narrative reflects on the implications of art forgery and the monetary versus intrinsic worth of art.
