The White Indian Boy: The Story of Uncle Nick Among the Shoshones

The White Indian Boy: The Story of Uncle Nick Among the Shoshones, published in 1919, is a memoir by Elijah Nicholas Wilson, detailing his experiences as a white boy adopted by the Shoshone tribe in the 19th century. The narrative recounts his adventures and the cultural lessons he learned under the guidance of the Great Chief Washakie, as well as his later life as a Pony Express rider and liaison between Native Americans and settlers. This book not only provides a personal account of frontier life in Wyoming but also includes two additional narratives that offer varied perspectives on life among Native Americans during that era.
