The Sky Detectives; Or, How Jack Ralston Got His Man

The golden age of flight gets its pulp hero in Jack Ralston, a secret service ace who flies circles around both criminals and the law. When the elusive counterfeiter Slippery Slim Garrabrant slips out of New Orleans with a fortune in fake bills, Jack and his loyal wingman Perk climb into their crate at Candler Flying Field and give chase. This is 1930s adventure fiction at its most delightful: engine roars over Georgia swamps, leads vanish into New Orleans fog, and every landing strip could hide a traitor. The prose crackles with the raw thrill of early aviation, when pilots were daredevils and the sky belonged to anyone brave enough to take it. Newcomb writes with the kind of breezy confidence that made readers fall in love with the Shadow and the Lone Ranger. Whether you're after nostalgic adventure or just a good chase story, this collection of six Sky Detectives novels delivers exactly what it promises.
