The Ralstons

The Ralstons opens on a household governed by iron principle and quiet repression. Alexander Lauderdale, a man of stern religious conviction, has raised his two daughters in the shadow of exacting expectations: Charlotte, polished and pragmatically married to a congressman, has fulfilled her duty, while Katharine remains at home, seemingly obedient but harboring a devastating secret.
