The Prospector: A Tale of the Crow's Nest Pass

This novel pulses with the raw energy of the Canadian frontier at the turn of the century. At its heart is the figure of Shock Macgregor, a mountain of a man with a gentle soul, whose journey from humble beginnings to university football hero embodies the promise and pain of an era hungry for transformation. Through his story, Connor explores the rigid class divisions fracturing Canadian society, weaving together romance, athletic triumph, and spiritual questioning into one narrative. The two sisters, Betty and Helen Fairbanks, become mirrors for Shock's competing destinies: love and loyalty, ambition and home. When the call of the mountains and the promise of gold in Crow's Nest Pass pulls him westward, the novel transforms from campus drama into something wilder, a tale of what men sacrifice to become legends, and what women wait for when history demands everything.
