The Man of the Desert
Hazel Radcliffe has money, beauty, and a problem she cannot escape: Milton Hamar, a man who will not take no for an answer. When a desert horseback ride offers brief respite, she takes it, only to find herself hurled into genuine danger: lost, alone, and fading beneath the brutal Arizona sun. She is rescued by John Brownleigh, a missionary whose humility and quiet strength make him the opposite of every man in Hazel's world. As he nurses her back to health, something grows between them, fragile and undeniable. But John believes himself unworthy of a wealthy woman's love, and Hazel, shattered by her own shallow past, feels too changed to reach for what she wants. They part without speaking what both feel. Back among her family, Hazel makes a radical choice: she will become someone deserving of John's love. The desert gave her a glimpse of who she could be. Now she must find the courage to become that person before it's too late.
