The Little Nugget
Peter Burns, a young man of means nursing a broken heart, finds himself entangled in a ludicrous plot to kidnap "The Little Nugget"—the combative, chain-smoking son of a wealthy American family. This bizarre undertaking is a condition set by his new fiancée, Cynthia, whose social ambitions hinge on returning the boy to his mother. When Cynthia's initial attempt fails, Peter infiltrates Ogden's boarding school as an instructor, hoping to snatch the kid himself. But he quickly discovers he's not the only one with designs on the Nugget; a rogues' gallery of professional criminals, including the Bowery's finest and a smooth-talking con man, are also in pursuit, turning the staid school into a battleground of bungled abductions and mistaken identities. Ogden, meanwhile, proves to be a formidable, obstinate force of nature, thwarting every would-be captor with surprising ingenuity.
