The Little Acrobat: A Story of Italy

Natale is small for his age, awkwrd in his own skin, and burning with a dream that feels too big for his slight frame. As the circus caravan winds through the Italian countryside toward the town of Cutigliano, he walks beside the peculiar team of horses and dogs, watching over his sickly brother Pietro, and watching the horizon for the moment he might become what he longs to be. Antonio Bisbini, the greatest acrobat in Italy, is the name that echoes through Natale's imagination. Someday, he tells himself. Someday. This is a story about the particular ache of wanting something you can't quite reach yet, and the courage it takes to keep reaching anyway. The circus family surrounding Natale is unconventional by any measure, but their love is absolute: they are his world, his identity, his proof that home is not a place but a people. For young readers who believe in big dreams and the quiet heroism of trying, this book offers the simple, enduring truth that belonging is earned not by出生, but by walking the road together.
