The Kink
The Kink, written by Thomson Burtis in the early 20th century, is a short story set against the backdrop of military aviation. It follows Jim Finley, a seasoned test pilot, who confronts the challenges of aging and the reckless behavior of younger pilots, particularly Kink Forell. As Finley grapples with his diminishing abilities and a life-threatening situation, the narrative explores themes of pride, vulnerability, and the harsh realities of retirement from a beloved profession in aviation.
