The House Without Windows & Eepersip's Life There

The House Without Windows & Eepersip's Life There, written by Barbara Newhall Follett and first published in 1966, follows a young girl named Eepersip who embarks on a journey of self-discovery in nature. Initially feeling lonely in her family's cottage at the foothills of Mount Varcrobis, Eepersip convinces her parents to create a garden but ultimately seeks freedom in the wilderness. The narrative explores her deep connection with the environment and wildlife, particularly a doe and her fawn, as she navigates the joys and challenges of independence. This novel is notable for being a product of Follett's childhood creativity, having been rewritten after her original manuscript was lost in a fire.
