The Heads of Apex
Two desperate men take a job that sounds too good to be true. Justus Miles and Rusty, soldiers of fortune with nothing left to lose, sign on with the enigmatic Solino for a voyage in a submarine to parts unknown. When disaster strands them in an underwater cavern, they discover a world no human was meant to see: the Apex, a hidden civilization where ruling beings called Heads sustain themselves on the blood of a subjugated people. The Heads are dying, their ancient power failing, and in the exiled rebel Spiro they find an ally willing to tear the Apex apart to reshape it. As revolution erupts, Miles and Rusty must decide whether to honor their mercenary contract or throw their lot in with the oppressed. The result is a pulse-pounding adventure that asks whether men without morals can find them when it matters most.
