Adventure, Novels

The year is 1906. Edward Harden, a decorated explorer who finds London society stifling, is preparing for his most ambitious expedition yet: a journey up the Congo River into the unmapped heart of Africa. When his eager young nephew Max unexpectedly appears, begging to join the adventure, Edward faces a choice that will bind them together in danger. With Captain Crouch, a rugged survivor who understands the ways of local tribes, they set forth from the Explorers' Club into the so-called 'Dark Continent.' What begins as a quest for big game and geographical discovery becomes something far more sinister: rumors of a hidden tributary called the 'Hidden River,' and whispers among indigenous peoples of the Fire-gods who dwell there, beings of terrible power feared by every tribe along the Congo. As the expedition pushes deeper into the unknown, Harden must confront whether the legends are mere superstition or something that will consume them all.
