The Dearest Things in Boots

The Dearest Things in Boots is a comedic play by Edna I. MacKenzie, written in the early 20th century. Set in a ladies' shoe store, it humorously explores themes of womanhood and social issues, particularly suffrage, through the interactions of various customers and the store's employee, Jack Wilson. The play highlights conflicting attitudes towards women's roles in society, using comedic misunderstandings about footwear to critique social norms. Ultimately, it reveals Jack's realization of love through his playful exchanges with the charming customer, Betty Moffat.
