As their romance develops, Nick's dark side emerges, leading to psychological turmoil and violent tendencies, prompting intervention from psychologist Carl Horker. Originally written in the 1920s as The Mad Brain, the manuscript was edited for modern audiences by Forrest J Ackerman.
