The Dare Boys of 1776

Dick and Tom Dare stand in the streets of Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, and feel the tremor of a new nation being born. Their young hearts race with the revolutionary fervor sweeping through the colonies. But history is not content to let mere boys observe it from the sidelines. On the road home, Tory sympathizers ambush the brothers, and the message is clear: their father has been captured by enemies of the cause. Now the Dare boys must ride into the heart of war to find him, joining the Continental Army where every step brings them closer to their father, and closer to the deadly serious game of liberty and rebellion. Cox writes 1776 as it truly was: not sanitized and noble, but dangerous, desperate, and alive with young courage that has everything to prove and everything to lose. This is adventure fiction that understands the Revolution was not won by statues, but by flesh-and-blood boys who chose to fight.
