The Courier of the Ozarks
In the bloodied hills of Missouri, 1862, a young Union scout named Harry Semans crouches in a thicket with his loyal dog Bruno, listening to Confederate guerrillas plot an attack on the town of Fulton. The state is torn apart, neighbor against neighbor, and Harry knows that the only thing standing between an unsuspecting Union garrison and massacre is a desperate ride through enemy territory. Dunn's forgotten adventure captures the guerrilla war that made Missouri one of the war's most brutal theaters. Harry and Bruno must outrun posses, navigate a landscape where loyalty is suspect and death comes from shadows, and deliver their warning before midnight. This is frontier adventure at its rawest: a boy and his dog against a divided world, racing through the Ozark hills toward a dawn that may never come.
