The Bluff of the Hawk
Hawk Carse is the kind of man who makes enemies out of legends. When he and his companion Kapoor crash on Satellite III, a hostile rock floating in the void, they find themselves hunted not by the void itself but by the infamous Dr. Ku Sui, a villain whose genius matches Carse's own cunning. The jungle on this airless satellite is a fever dream of predatory creatures and deadly vegetation, but Carse has survived worse. What he needs are the plans that will lead him to Ku Sui's hidden laboratory, and what he gets is a battle of wits and wills that will push his resourcefulness to breaking point. The confrontation between these two titans of the void is inevitable, and when it comes, it comes swift. This is pulp science fiction at its undiluted core: broad adventure, bolder characters, and a universe where the stars themselves seem to root for the right man to come out on top.
