The Adventures of Sammy Jay

Sammy Jay is a handsome blue rascal who knows exactly one trick: taking what isn't his. Strutting through the Green Forest in his fine coat and higher-than-you cap, he fancies himself important. But the other animals know him for what he is: a thief with feathers. Whether it's snatching nuts from Chatterer the Red Squirrel or causing chaos at every turn, Sammy can't help himself. Yet somehow, this incorrigible blue jay remains oddly lovable. The forest animals may outsmart him more often than not, but Sammy keeps coming back for more mischief. Written by Thornton W. Burgess, these warm, gentle stories have been winning over young readers for over a century. They blend animal antics with quiet lessons about honesty and friendship, but never so heavy-handed that the fun gets buried. Perfect for readers who love a character who tries to be bad but ends up teaching something true about being good.
