The Adventures of Piang the Moro Jungle Boy: A Book for Young and Old

Set in the wild jungles of Mindanao, this early 20th-century adventure follows Piang, a young Moro boy destined for greatness. When Piang and his rival Sicto are sent to seek the wisdom of a hermit named Ganassi, both must prove they have what it takes to become the tribe's 'charm boy' the leader who will guide their people to victory. Piang's extraordinary jungle skills are put to the test immediately: he escapes a killer crocodile on the river, outwits battalions of mischievous monkeys in a coconut stand-off, and demonstrates the kind of courage that marks a natural-born leader. The jungle itself becomes a character, teeming with danger, ancient wisdom, and the mystical forces that will shape Piang's destiny. This is adventure fiction with real cultural texture, written during a period when stories of indigenous courage were rare. Whether you're twelve or eighty, Piang's journey into the heart of the Moro homeland offers something increasingly rare: an adventure that treats its young hero's world with genuine wonder.
