Some Little People

Lisbeth Lillibun lives a hundred miles from London, which might as well be a million. In her small corner of the countryside, the city gleams like a distant star - all gaslight and wonder and adventures she can only imagine. With her practical brother Dickon as her only companion, she embarks on small expeditions that only sharpen her longing. Every mile marker becomes a question: how much further until I reach the life I'm meant for? But Dickon sees beauty where she sees only distance, and his quiet wisdom begins to plant seeds of doubt - and eventually, gratitude - in Lisbeth's restless heart. This is a tender portrait of childhood longing: that peculiar ache of wanting what we cannot have, and the slow discovery that the journey itself holds more magic than the destination. George Kringle writes with quiet empathy about the pain of small desires and the wisdom it takes to find home where you are.
