Smugglers' Reef: A Rick Brant Science-Adventure Story

Harold L. Goodwin

Adventure, Children & Young Adult Reading, Novels, Science-Fiction & Fantasy

Spindrift Island seems like paradise, but photographs don't lie. When Rick Brant is sent to document a trawler wreck at Smugglers' Reef, he captures more than salvageable remains. The Kelso family has just moved into the abandoned Creek House, and their arrival coincides with something fishy in these waters. Local fisherman Tom Tyler is nervous. The coast guard is interested. And Rick's camera has a way of exposing what people want hidden. What begins as a straightforward adventure story, fueled by Rick's love of science and his knack for being in the wrong place at the right time, quickly thickens into something more sinister. The fishing community that seemed so ordinary now bristles with tension. Smuggling operations. Dangerous men. A reef that claims ships and might claim lives. Rick and his friends have faced danger before, but this time the stakes are different. This time, the adventure finds them, and there's no opting out. The question isn't whether they'll solve the mystery, but whether they'll do it before the ocean swallows the evidence... and them.
