Two friends face an uncertain future at an English public school until one of them proposes a daring escape. Colin Sinclair must leave Stockmere when his family can no longer afford the fees, but his friend Tiny Desmond refuses to let him go alone. So instead of a tearful farewell, they set sail for East Africa, heading into the unknown toward Kilembonga. Tiny's persistent cough worsens aboard ship, hinting that their adventure may cost them more than they bargained for. Westerman's 1913 adventure captures the optimism and peril of its era, wild landscapes, dangerous encounters, and two boys whose friendship will be tested by the untamed continent.
