Pandora's Box
Pandora's Box (Die Büchse der Pandora), written by Frank Wedekind in 1904, is the second part of his 'Lulu' plays, following Earth Spirit. The play explores themes of lust and greed within society, drawing inspiration from the Jack the Ripper murders and a pantomime by Félicien Champsaur. Its premiere in Nuremberg was restricted due to censorship issues, and it later influenced the opera Lulu by Alban Berg. The work is notable for its provocative content and its impact on modern theatre.
