Mindsnake
A Witch named Hammen and his dog Lad share something far deeper than friendship. In this peculiar 1960s SF novel, Lad isn't just a companion - he's a Familiar, linked to Hammen through a psychic bond that lets them share thoughts, sensations, purpose. Their world is one where teleportation has evolved into something stranger: thought-travel, the transfer of consciousness across space, and with it, the terrifying possibility of thought-invasion. That invasion has a name: the Mindsnake. A slithering black presence, it moves through minds like a parasite, reshaping them from within. What begins as a straightforward job - transport this cargo, collect the fee - spirals into something far darker. The Mindsnake isn't just a threat to be stopped. It might be a message. A transformation. A new form of consciousness reaching out. And the bond between Hammen and Lad becomes the only thing that can anchor them in a reality where thought itself has become treacherous, where the self might slip away at any moment.
