Manfred (Version 2)
Manfred is a dramatic poem by George Gordon, Lord Byron, written between 1816 and 1817. The work delves into the internal struggles of its titular character, who grapples with guilt over past actions that may have led to the death of his beloved. Blending elements of Gothic fiction with themes of morality, guilt, and the human condition, it reflects Byron's own tumultuous life experiences. Although not originally intended for performance, it was staged at Covent Garden Theatre in 1834 and has inspired various musical compositions.
