One plate with chromolithographed illumination, 12 in black and white outline only, intended to be colored by the reader Introduction contains "practical hints upon colouring" and cites the usefulness of Winsor and Newton's illuminating materials viii, 22 pages, 14 unnumbered leaves of plates : 37 cm "The borders and initial letters founded upon the style of illuminated mss. of the 13th century"--Page iii Introduction signed: A.E.G Title page is chromolithographed. The design is repeated on the next plate, without text or color. The 12 remaining plates contain the text and music of the carols, printed in red and black, within an illuminated border (one printed in colors, the rest in black and white intended to be colored by the reader).
