Lorelei of the Red Mist (Version 2)
Published in 1946 in Planet Stories, 'Lorelei of the Red Mist' is a blend of Golden Age science fiction and swords & sorcery by Leigh Douglass Brackett. The story follows a weak man who, after dying, awakens in the body of a powerful warrior on a strange planet, only to find that his new existence is manipulated by the devil-goddess Rann. The first half was penned by Brackett, while Ray Bradbury completed the tale due to Brackett's other commitments. This work serves as a prequel to Brackett's Stark character and highlights themes of identity and power.
