Lady Eureka; Or, The Mystery: A Prophecy of the Future. Volume 2

An 1840 visionary adventure that predicts the shape of tomorrow through the lens of Victorian adventure. The story follows Zabra, a wounded young hero nursed by the kindly Dr. Tourniquet, as he and his companion Oriel Porphyry navigate a world teetering between ancient loyalties and technological marvels. Oriel burns for glory and leadership, while Zabra protects their mysterious mutual friend Eureka, whose very name hints at the extraordinary. When a prophecy of the future begins to unfold, the characters must choose between personal ambition and deeper bonds of friendship. Set against seafaring battles with pirates and the stirring of a technologically advanced society, this volume pulses with the energy of a young genre discovering itself. Williams, writing nearly a century before the golden age of science fiction, weaves adventure and speculation into something surprisingly urgent. For readers who wonder where it all began, this is early speculative fiction with genuine narrative thrust, not mere curiosity.
