Indian Fairy Book
The Indian Fairy Book, published in 1856 by Henry R. Schoolcraft, is a collection of Native American fairy tales gathered from oral traditions during his thirty years of living among Indigenous peoples in the West and around the Great Lakes. Schoolcraft documented these stories, which include magical tales of manitoes, a boy who snared the sun, and the Toad Woman who stole a baby, preserving them for future generations. This work is notable for its authentic representation of Native American folklore and its role in the study of Indigenous cultures.
