Gold Seekers of '49
The year is 1849. The promise of gold burns brighter than any fire in the hearts of men, and for young Charley Adams trudging through a bitter Missouri snowstorm with letters full of rumors from California, the West isn't just a direction, it's a destiny. When Charley stumbles upon an unconscious stranger in the street, a dying gold miner clutching sacks of glittering dust, the course of his life shifts forever. His father, scarred from the Mexican War and desperate for a new beginning, sees in this encounter the answer to their prayers. Together, father and son set their faces toward the horizon, joining thousands of other dreamers in a mad westward scramble that will test their courage, their bond, and their will to survive. Sabin weaves a rousing tale of trail dust and tent cities, of fortunes won and lost, and of the raw, reckless hope that drove a generation to stake everything on a dream.
