Dreadnoughts of the Dogger: A Story of the War on the North Sea

The sea has never been neutral, and in the winter of 1914 it is about to become a battlefield. Mark Redisham is a Sea Scout at camp near Haddisport when the world begins to crumble into war. His brother Rodney serves as a midshipman in the Royal Navy, and as tensions between England and Germany escalate into open conflict, the brothers find themselves on opposite sides of a chasm that has swallowed Europe whole. Into their community comes Max Hilliger, a German boy whose presence forces the question: what happens when national loyalty and personal bonds collide? The narrative builds toward the Battle of Dogger Bank, that frozen January morning in 1915 when the largest surface engagement since the war began turned the North Sea into a crucible of steel and courage. Through adventure and youthful aspiration, the story captures what it meant to be young and alive while history decided whether you would survive it. For readers who love naval adventure, coming-of-age tales, or the human stories hidden within the great battles of WWI.
