Clutterbuck's Treasure

Godfrey Hewetson has just learned what it means to be truly alone: his father is dead, the family is penniless, and the world has grown cold. Then he intervenes in a street robbery against a frail old man and stumbles into the strangest inheritance of his life. William Clutterbuck, a miser worth a fortune, has died leaving a will that defies all logic: his treasure lies buried somewhere in the wilds of Bechuanaland, and whoever can find it first shall have it. But Godfrey isn't the only heir in the race. A cast of desperate relatives, each more cunning than the last, converges on the African frontier, and the prize goes to whoever is swiftest, bravest, and willing to outmaneuver the rest. What begins as a shot at redemption becomes a desperate journey across unforgiving terrain, where every shadow might hide a rival and every choice could cost everything. This is a tale of transformation: the grass-to-grace arc of a man who had nothing, fighting for everything.
