The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night, also known as Arabian Nights, is a collection of stories compiled between AD 800-900 by various authors and scholars. This volume, the eighth in a sixteen-volume series translated by Richard Burton, features tales woven together by the character Shahrazad, who narrates them to her husband Shahryar to delay her execution. Notable stories such as 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves' and the adventures of 'Sinbad the Sailor' originate from this rich tapestry of mythology and folklore from the Indian subcontinent, Persia, and Arabia.
