Bolo the Cave Boy

In the mists of prehistoric time, a young cave boy named Bolo dreams of proving himself worthy of his clan's respect. When he isn't learning to hunt with hand-fashioned arrows or fish in rushing streams, he and his best friend Fisher are exploring a world where mammoths thunder across the plains and bears lurk in shadowed caves. But Bolo's true test arrives when a devastating flood threatens everything his people have built, and only his courage can rekindle the dying fire that means their survival. This is a story about a boy who must learn that bravery isn't the absence of fear, but the choice to act when the stakes are highest. Bolo's journey from uncertain youth to community hero feels as vital today as it did when Katharine Atherton Grimes first told it: we all need to find our place among others, to matter, to contribute something irreplaceable to the people we love. The prehistoric setting gives the tale texture and danger, but its heart is universal: the ache to belong and the quiet triumph of being brave enough to try.
