Automobile Girls at Newport
In 1910, two sisters receive an invitation that would shock their social circle: a female friend actually knows how to drive an automobile. Barbara and Mollie Thurston set off for Newport with Ruth Stuart behind the wheel, Aunt Sallie chaperoning, and fellow friend Grace Carter along for the ride. But the open road brings more than scenic views. A jewel thief stalks the resort, a late-night burglary threatens their party, and the women find themselves navigating not just winding coastal roads but the narrow expectations of a society that still questions whether women belong behind a steering wheel or at the voting booth. The tennis tournament awaits, but first these automobile girls must prove that daring to drive is only the beginning of their adventure.
