An Old Sailor's Yarns

The sea has a way of following you home. Captain Robert Bowline has traded tempestuous waters for the quiet fields of New England, but some men carry the ocean in their bones. Now retired to his farm, the old captain fills his days with memories and his evenings with stories that make the hearth glow warmer than any lantern at sea. His daughter Mary, raised on land but dreaming of horizons she has never seen, finds herself at the center of a different kind of storm: a battle for her heart between Thomas Kelson, a young sailor who understands the salt in her blood, and Mr. Millinet, a pompous suitor from New York whose fashion cannot compass her father's rough wisdom. What unfolds is a tender exploration of what we choose and what chooses us, of the romance that lives in stories told well and the one that blooms between two people who recognize something true. These are yarns spun by an old man who knows that the best voyages are the ones that bring you back.
