Adventures of an Aide-De-Camp; Or, a Campaign in Calabria, Volume 3 (of 3)

Calabria, 1806. The Neapolitan campaign has collapsed into chaos, and Lieutenant Claude Dundas, aide-de-camp to Sir John Stewart of the 62nd Regiment, finds himself in a landscape where every shadow might hide a traitor and every friendly face could mask a French informant. The British forces are scattered, the locals are hostile, and the mountains belong to rebels who answer to no flag. But Dundas's mission is only beginning. Within the vaulted darkness of an old monastery, he hears the confession of a fallen monk whose story of forbidden love and institutional betrayal mirrors the larger treachery unfolding across the war-torn peninsula. As French forces tighten their grip and bandits close in on the villa where Dundas has pledged to protect the innocent, he must decide where loyalty ends and survival begins. This third volume builds toward the siege of Scylla, where the British stand alone against impossible odds and the coast runs red.
