Zwischen Neun Und Neun

Published in 1918, 'Zwischen Neun Und Neun' by Leo Perutz follows Stanislaus Demba, a migrant university student in early 20th-century Vienna, as he navigates identity and societal pressures in a diverse and changing environment. The novel intricately portrays Demba's struggles to secure money to prevent his girlfriend from leaving with another man, while he also evades the police after nearly selling a valuable book.
