Where Angels Fear to Tread

When the recently widowed Lilia Herriton impulsively marries a handsome, younger Italian, Gino Carella, her staid English in-laws are scandalized. Fearing social disgrace, they dispatch her brother-in-law, Philip, to the sun-drenched Tuscan town of Monteriano to retrieve her. But Philip arrives too late, finding Lilia already wed and surprisingly content amidst a culture utterly alien to his own. What begins as a comedic clash of manners soon spirals into a poignant exploration of love, class, and cultural misunderstanding, with tragic consequences that ripple through both families and force Philip and his companion Caroline Abbott to confront their own preconceived notions of propriety and passion.
