Vildsomme Veje: Ogsaa En Kærlighedshistorie / I Sommerferien

Published in 1890, 'Vildsomme Veje: Ogsaa En Kærlighedshistorie / I Sommerferien' by Vilhelmine Zahle is a significant work in Nordic women's literature, featuring one of the earliest depictions of lesbian love in Danish fiction. The novel follows Martha Grüner, a young woman who falls deeply in love with her friend Edith Gerner, exploring themes of unrequited love and the societal constraints on women's relationships during the 19th century. The collection also includes 'I Sommerferien,' which portrays Valborg's conflicted engagement and her forbidden attraction to another man, highlighting women's sexual awakening and the limitations imposed by marriage. This work was rediscovered 90 years after its initial publication and is now recognized as a milestone in the representation of female desire.
