Vikram and the Vampire

Step into a world where ancient Indian folklore collides with the supernatural in Richard F. Burton’s adaptation of the Baital Pachisi. King Vikramaditya, a figure of legendary bravery, finds himself ensnared in a perilous quest by a vengeful tantric yogi. His mission: to capture Baital, a mischievous vampire-like spirit, from a siras tree. But Baital is no ordinary captive; he binds the king in a narrative labyrinth, posing moral dilemmas and philosophical riddles after each captivating tale. Should Vikram answer correctly, Baital flees, forcing the king to restart his arduous task. This collection of eleven interwoven stories tests Vikram's wisdom, patience, and resolve against a backdrop of ancient curses and supernatural trickery.
