Variétés Historiques Et Littéraires (07/10)recueil De Pièces Volantes Rares Et Curieuses En Prose Et En Vers

''Variétés Historiques et Littéraires'' by Édouard Fournier is a collection of rare and curious prose and poetry written in the mid-19th century. The work seems to compile various pieces that reflect on aspects of life, culture, and possibly history from past centuries, exploring themes relevant to both the literary and historical contexts. The beginning of this collection presents a fascinating and prophetic account attributed to a mathematician discussing predictions for the year 1620. The text touches on astrological observations, potential maladies, and social occurrences characterized by a humorous and satirical tone. Fournier sets the stage for these predictions with a playful style, interspersing astrological analysis with whimsical commentary about the impact of these events on people—both common and noble. The opening offers a blend of intrigue and amusement, hinting at the clever observations and insights that likely permeate the subsequent pieces in the collection.
