Tropic Death

Tropic Death is a collection of short stories by Eric Walrond, first published in 1926. The narratives explore the lives of West Indian peasants in Barbados and Panama, focusing on their struggles, cultural backgrounds, and social interactions within a challenging tropical environment. The opening story, 'Drought,' introduces Coggins Rum, a stone cutter facing the harsh realities of life under the relentless sun, while themes of poverty, resilience, and identity permeate the collection, making it a significant work in Caribbean literature.
