Transfer Point
1950

The last man on Earth breathes poison with every heartbeat. In a world being slowly suffocated by agnoton, a mysterious element seeping into the atmosphere, Vyrko lives in a remote retreat with Lavra and her father, scientist Kirth-Labbery. As yellow bands of unknown origin creep closer and humanity's final chapter seems written, Vyrko finds himself obsessed with recording everything, preserving some fragment of meaning before the end. But when Kirth-Labbery hints at a time machine, hope and terror become impossible to distinguish. This is a novel about what we choose to preserve when everything is lost, and whether love can bloom in the shadow of extinction. Boucher writes with quiet devastation about the spaces between breaths, the weight of last chances, and the unbearable question of whether we can ever truly escape our own futures.
