Mikel Skot has spent his life safely behind the ticket counter of Time Travel Tours, too timid to venture anywhere himself. Then a redheaded girl is stabbed at his window, and in the chaos he grabs the antique knife and flees straight through a time portal, landing in 1950s Los Angeles with nothing but a murder weapon and no idea how to get home. The past is bewildering: no instant food, no mood pills, people who actually talk to strangers on the street. Then he meets Betty French, a sharp-tongued redhead who sees through his nervous fumbling and forces him to actually live instead of just exist. There's just one problem: the murder he witnessed wasn't real. It was entertainment, staged for a future audience hungry for vintage thrills. Now Mikel must decide whether to return to his colorless life or claim this newfound version of himself. A gentle, unexpectedly warm time-travel comedy about a man who needed to lose everything to find who he actually was.
