Thrasymachus: Or, The Future of Morals

Published in 1926, 'Thrasymachus: Or, The Future of Morals' by C. E. M. Joad is a philosophical treatise that examines the nature of morality and justice. Drawing on the character Thrasymachus from Plato's 'Republic', Joad argues that moral codes often serve the interests of the powerful, critiquing traditional views of morality as social constructs that suppress individuality. He discusses contemporary issues such as the conflict between women's economic independence and restrictive moral codes, predicting tensions between traditional values and emerging freedoms in society.
