The Way to Abolish Slavery

The Way to Abolish Slavery, published in 1849 by Charles Stearns, is a historical treatise that critiques the institution of slavery in the United States. Stearns argues that slavery is a profound social evil that undermines the nation's principles of liberty and justice, highlighting the complicity of both church and state in its perpetuation. He calls for radical reforms and the urgent abolition of slavery, emphasizing the need for Northern states to sever ties with pro-slavery practices. This work serves as a rallying cry for abolitionists, advocating for a bold stance against the structures that uphold oppression.
