The Quantum Jump

Captain Brandon volunteers for humanity's first interstellar voyage to Sirius Three, a mission that will make his name legend. When his ship malfunctions, he ejects and crash-lands on the alien surface, left to die in an environment that offers no mercy. Back aboard the vessel, Colonel Towers resumes the journey, driven by a single obsession: to be the first human to set foot on another solar system, regardless of the cost. Brandon survives against all odds, and when rescue finally arrives, he discovers a truth more unsettling than any alien world. Thirteen years have passed on Earth while he experienced only months. The civilization he left has transformed beyond recognition, and the man who set out as a pioneer returns to find himself a relic of a forgotten age. The quantum leap in space travel has become something far stranger: a one-way ticket to an unfamiliar future.
