The Little Demon

In the suffocating, small-minded world of provincial Russia, Ardalyon Borisitch Peredonov, a schoolteacher seething with unearned superiority, nurses a desperate ambition for promotion to Inspector. His only tether to this dream is Varvara, his manipulative fiancée, whose own schemes twist their already fraught relationship. As the coveted position remains elusive, Peredonov's petty cruelties escalate, mirroring the rapid decay of his sanity. Paranoia takes root, blossoming into vivid hallucinations of a shadowy, malevolent creature, a 'little demon' that seems to embody his spiraling descent into madness and the oppressive banality of his existence.
